Indian head massage, also known as champissage, is a treatment that focuses on massaging acupressure points along the head, neck, and shoulders, often using circular massage strokes to improve hair and scalp condition.

Requiring no oils* or equipment, making it a very accessible treatment, perfect for newcomers to massage. It is usually done while seated and through light clothing.

Indian Head Massage is generally safe, but there are certain circumstances where it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional before receiving treatment.

Medical Conditions: Individuals with conditions such as acute migraines, recent head or neck injuries, or skin infections in the massage area should seek medical advice before booking an appointment.

Pregnancy: While massage is often beneficial during and after pregnancy, it's essential to consult with your healthcare provider, especially during the first trimester.

Illness or Weakness: If you're feeling extremely unwell, have a fever, flu, or other contagious illness, it's best to postpone your massage until you've recovered.

Substance Use: Avoid massages if you've consumed alcohol or drugs within the past 12 hours.

Your therapist will always prioritise your well-being. They will adjust the massage to suit your individual needs and comfort level, especially during pregnancy.

Remember, it's essential to listen to your body. If you experience any discomfort or pain during the massage, inform your therapist immediately.

Most cats love to have their heads massaged. Starting at the top of your cat's head, use the palms of your hands to go in a circular motion before moving onto the temples and cheeks. Use your fingertips to massage around and behind your cat's ears, too.

Most dogs love to be massaged; they love the attention and, let's face it, being massaged usually feels pretty good. You will, however, need to be gentle and introduce your dog gradually to being touched in sensitive areas. When people get a massage, we understand why pressure is being applied to a sensitive spot, but your dog does not understand what is happening and it’s pretty hard to explain it to them. You will want to avoid causing your dog discomfort and introduce pressure and touching in areas that are unfamiliar to them in a slow, confident, manner so they feel comfortable with the process, especially in the sensitive head region.
