Myrtus communis Oil is a volatile oil obtained by steam distillation from the leaves of the Myrtle, Myrtus communis L, Myrtaceae.
Myrtle essential oil is a gentle way of treating conditons associated with respiratory problems and is especially to good to use with children.
When burned or vaporised it can help ease asthma attacks, the symptoms of bronchitis and other chest complaints.
You may also find it useful to burn at night to calm and relax.
As an ingredient in a massage oil Myrtle can be effective against greasy, teenage skin and makes a good chest rub.
It also makes a gentle but effective muscle and joint rub.
When blended in a cream or lotion it may prove useful against a variety of skin conditions - it's antiseptic properties may well help combat acne for example.
